Leonard Bates is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in the financial sector, currently serving as the Director and Head of Americas Capability and Regulatory Management at UBS. With a career spanning over a decade, Leonard has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills, managing large cross-functional initiatives and ensuring smooth operations in various roles.
At UBS, Leonard has been instrumental in leading the planning and execution of projects related to the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR), providing governance and oversight of the Americas Finance and Risk regulatory landscape.
Prior to UBS, Leonard served as a Program Management Consultant, where he managed client program operations and oversaw the execution of the 2017-2018 risk portfolio within the Anti Money Laundering (AML) Target Operating Model for the Credit Suisse Enhancement Program. Leonard also held the position of Vice President – Program Manager at Citigroup, he spearheaded the systematic wind-down of Banamex USA and its branches in the United States in response to regulatory feedback / consent order. Leonard has also worked with Black Rock and Bank of America, contributing significantly to their operations.
Lastly, Leonard holds a B.A. in Political Science and an MBA from the Donald R. Tapia College of Business at Saint Leo University and is a husband and proud father of two daughters.
